Nelson 1992-2009

You left us way too soon my little brother, one of my first and best friends in La Carpio. You taught me so much. I love you brother!! Sometimes I can still see your smile in the Central Valley sky, when the stars are shining crazy bright...

On A Sad Note

We just lost another kid in La Carpio. Pictured on the far left from about 5 years ago. Freddy (not our pc lab Freddy) back when this pic was taken, he was getting involved in some heavy gang stuff. He moved to Nicaragua for several years to get away from it. I just saw him again this year and he seemed more mature and grown up. Still don't know many details, please pray for his family and for the community...

Special Thanks!!

To Dina for believing in me, for all of the coaching and for an awesome job directing. Final performance can be seen by clicking here, Lazarus comes alive around 45:00

Jean Carlos

Got to visit him early Saturday, he's doing 2 years. I always like to give out cookies to friends and business for Christmas, first time delivering cookies to jail. I thought about the other kids I've visited at this particular facility over the years. Jean Carlos is the only one who is still alive. Please pray...

La Carpio Computer Lab

Cascanueces 2011

Tchaikovsky: music that transcends time, space and takes you to another place. One of my favorite Christmas traditions ever. The little angels moved around like they were on roller skates. God bless them all...

Waiting For Colombus?

Kirg

For several years, it's been a dream of mine to bomb down the huge incline at the entrance/bridge into La Carpio. Last month, my new hero beat me to it (in the dark as a big bus headed his way). Had to hook this wild man up with some new wheels...

Big 6!!

December 5, 2005 I sold my stuff and moved to Costa Rica. Glory and praise to the Giver of all good things for the best six years of my life. Even moving to Costa Rica was a long shot and 2011 was by far the most challenging and coincidentally the most fruitful. A lot of life has been lived and a lot of lives have been transformed. The thought of spending eternity with my favorite people on the planet, worth it!! #6 was Nelson's number...

Carl's Junior Con Carlos

Our Boys Are Going To School!!

Freddy y Queso are off the charts for their age in the world of computers. They have decided to finish high school so they will have even more opportunities. We still see them as they are studying at our very own institute. Another Brother Further!!

The Other Corner Of La Carpio

Liminal space between the ghetto and the garbage dump...

Roberto

16 today, known this kid for at least 7 years. I couldn't imagine La Carpio or Costa Rica without him, he's always been there. Everything is a lot more fun with him around. So proud of the young man he's becoming, rock solid.

Closing It Out

We've gone about as far as we can go. Early next year, we're taking the biggest group ever from La Carpio (one of the poorest barrios in Costa Rica) to the best Christina camp in all of Central America. You can help. A child can be sponsored for $70 or a whole cabin for $700. We will also need about $1,000 for transportation. If you would like to help out, just click "Donate Tax Free" above and specify "La Carpio camp".
